Fees and Policies
Psychotherapy is an investment in your interior life, which is so often ignored in the hustle and bustle of life. It’s an uncomfortable but natural part of everyone’s life to go through periods of pain, confusion, and distress. Everyone experiences personal difficulties, and at times we all need support to work through them. Good friends and loving family members who encourage your freedom, listen without judgment, and are trustworthy (i.e. not going to gossip your troubles to other family members, etc) are often key sources of strength and can act as wise confidants. Sometimes, talking to someone outside of your inner circle or relationship community can actually be a relief; other times, it can bring perspective into the common group think that may occur.
Sometimes, people experience problems that do require professional consideration beyond hearty wisdom and common sense. Life is complicated and problems can get difficult. Seeking a licensed psychologist is a sign of strength, not weakness. Although the expense of therapy is an important consideration, you are making an investment in both your immediate functioning and your long-term health. Most people find that the skills they learn and healing they experience in therapy continue to be useful throughout their lives.
Contact Dr. Dan for information on fees. Fees have changed for full 60 minute sessions and for sports clients. If you are facing financial hardship, please let me know.
Payment is expected at the end of each session. I accept cash and personal checks. If you must cancel your appointment, please do so at least 24 hours before your scheduled time. Since I save your appointment hour for you and no one else, you will need to pay for appointments missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice.
Because a good therapist / client match is essential to the healing process, I offer a complimentary fifteen-minute phone consultation before we meet. This gives us a chance to become familiar with one another and to begin to assess whether my practice is appropriate for your needs. Your comfort is important to me. I also recognize that disclosing personal information is often difficult (“NOT EASY”). If this is your first time seeking a therapist, we can talk about what you might expect during the first initial session and subsequent therapy sessions.
